Airlie Gardens was established in 1901 and is a valuable cultural and ecological component of New Hanover County and North Carolina history. The Gardens are known for a collection of over 100,00 azaleas and countless camellia cultivars, which bloom through the winter and early spring. Displays around the Airlie Oak, Pergola Garden, and other areas bloom with continuous color year-round, as the displays are changed seasonally. |
Desperado Horse Farm -
Trail rides are available to the general public, seven days a week, for all ages and all levels of experience. Over 500 acres of natural forest to explore with a guide. Hours are from morning to dark by appointment. |

The Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington is a tour of some of the various sites around this historic city. The tour takes you through the 275-year old alleyways that saw many turbulent times in this port city that saw their fair number of pirates. The tour has been around since 1978 and visits many of their 29 sites on their nightly trips. |

According to a new survey on men’s health conducted by the AOA, less than 63% of men ages 18 to 29 say they have visited a primary care physician in the past year, compared to more than 85% of men ages 60 or older. Joseph A. Giaimo, DO, an AOA Trustee and a board-certified internist and pulmonologist in private practice in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is available to speak to the media about the results of this survey.
